Your exploration begins in Christian Coptic Cairo, a place of profound spiritual significance. This is where the Holy Family sought refuge; their presence is still palpable today. Their brief stay left an indelible mark, mainly when idols fell at the approach of Jesus, prompting the then-governor of Fustat to seek the Child’s life.

The family found sanctuary in a cave, which later became the site of the Church of Abu Serga (St Sergius). This area, along with the entire Fort of Babylon district, is a revered pilgrimage site for Christians worldwide.

You’ll have the opportunity to step inside the Church of Abu-Sergah and St. Barbara, as well as the Hanging Church. Your journey continues to the Cave Church of St. Simon in Cairo, where seven churches have been carved into the Moqattam Mountain.

The Monastery of St. Simon the Tanner, the largest among them, boasts an amphitheater that can accommodate 20,000 people.
